The difference

In Peru, werden meine Alpaka Pullover teilweise noch von Hand gefärbt und gestrickt

In Peru, my alpaca sweaters are still partially dyed and knitted by hand. This elaborate process makes each garment unique. The experienced seamstresses master these traditional craft techniques and implement them with attention to detail. Each hand-dyed and handspun piece tells a unique story. The combination of traditional craftsmanship and unusual design creates exclusive, top-quality pullover hoodies and cardigans for men that impress not only with their design but also with their high quality.

Experience the luxury and sustainability of real alpaca wool with my unusual men's hoodie made of alpaca wool - a high-quality addition to any wardrobe. Thanks to its natural temperature regulation, this unique hoodie is ideal for every season, offers excellent comfort while remaining breathable and pleasant on the skin. This creative hoodie adapts effortlessly to your personal style. Made with hand-operated knitting machines. Invest in durability and quality with my unusual hoodies for men and enjoy the perfect mix of comfort, unique style and environmental awareness.

Material: 100% pure alpaca wool (baby alpaca) from Peru, known for its softness, warmth and durability. 12gg knit

Design: Modern and timeless, this colorful hoodie fits into any wardrobe.

Unique: My unusual knitted sweaters for men are partly made individually by seamstresses in the Peruvian Andes.

Only the best baby alpaca wool

The alpaca wool I use is divided into the following exquisite quality levels:

  • Royal Alpaca: 19.0 microns
  • Baby Alpaca: 22.0 microns
  • Andean Highlandwool: 21.5 microns
  • Pima cotton

These micron values describe the fine fiber diameter and represent first-class softness and quality.

Alpaca wool, along with the rare vicuña fiber, is among the most durable animal hairs. It absorbs little moisture, provided it is processed properly. Its unique thermoregulating properties help maintain body temperature. These outstanding characteristics result from millennia of adaptation to extreme climatic conditions and make alpaca wool an exceptional material for luxury knitwear.

Zwischen den lebendigen Farben Limas und der stillen Weite der Anden bin ich zum ersten Mal mit Alpakawolle in Berührung gekommen

From the search for substance

It wasn't planned—but it was probably necessary. I didn't go to Peru to make fashion. I went to understand. Initially out of curiosity, then out of love—and I stayed for a full five years . Five years that fundamentally changed my life and my attitude toward clothing, work, and time.

Between the vibrant colors of Lima and the tranquil expanse of the Andes, I first encountered alpaca wool . Not at a market or in a showroom, but at an altitude of over 4,000 meters, in a small village where people live with this fiber as if it were part of the family.

I saw how the animals roam freely across the high pastures, how they are sheared only when the natural rhythm allows it—and how much knowledge and respect goes into every single fiber. Alpaca wool isn't produced there. It's inherited, cared for, and passed down through generations.

Ich habe gelernt, was es heißt, mit der Natur zu arbeiten, nicht gegen sie

During this time, I began working with women from the Andes —experienced knitters whose hands tell stories. I continue to create my knitwear with them today. Each piece is created, sometimes entirely by hand , without machines, without rushing—stitch by stitch, with an eye on the essentials. For many of these women, knitting is not just a craft, but a part of their cultural identity. And for me, it's an honor to work with them on a form of fashion that exudes authenticity .

I learned what it means to work with nature, not against it . And I understood that true quality takes time—and dedication. The softness, warmth, and lightness of genuine alpaca wool have never left me. And I knew: If I ever wanted to make clothes, it would be with this honesty. And with the people who showed me what it means to craft with conviction .

The dyeing is also done naturally by hand in the Andes. The women who dye the wool live right next to the alpaca farms.

I am proud to say that every piece in my knitwear collections is made by women in the Peruvian Andes from fine Peruvian alpaca wool.

Alpacas are a species of camel native to the South American Andes, particularly in Peru. The wool of adult animals is sheared from the entire body, while baby alpaca wool is produced exclusively from the fine fibers from the necks of young animals. This particularly soft, fine hair is known and prized as a luxury yarn due to its rarity and fineness.

I source my alpaca yarn exclusively from renowned farms in Peru. The animals there live outdoors in the Andes, not in cages. The yarn is then sent directly to the seamstresses in Peru for processing. My clothing is not mass-produced but individually made. The journey from yarn to finished product is fully traceable for each of my garments. Click on the link to sustainability and quality to learn more about the manufacturing process.

My knitted sweaters are generally relaxed/straight cut. For an oversized look, simply order a size larger. If you're unsure, just call me at +49 4161 7346461 or email me at henrik@henriks-shop.com
